Three Fat Singletons JM Bartholomew Books
When you read this story, you need to keep in mind is that it is written in British English and it is heavy in slang. This story follows around three main characters who share a bond of friendship. The main thread running through this story is that they are all looking for love and in the case of this book, it is in all the wrong places. The real draw for me during this read was the unfailing friendship between these women.I am all for realism when I am reading a story. I appreciate it when an author writes in everyday activities like bathroom breaks, brushing teeth, changing clothes. It adds to the story because it makes the character relatable on a personal level. At the same time, I do believe that just as in life there is a limit of needed information and this book veered into the “too much information” realm one too many times for me.
In terms of plot, character development, and humor this story is really good. I was torn because the Author writes very well. I could see the characters, the scenes and I did feel empathy for the characters. What took away from this story for me was there was just too much about bathroom habits, random hook-ups, and excessive drinking that only led to more drama that was unrealistic or too over the top. There were some scenes that actually had me gagging (involved dog and feet) and other scenes that had just too much disgusting information to handle. I am just not the target audience for this writer’s style.

Three Fat Singletons JM Bartholomew Books Reviews
This book was funny and easy to relate to. I truly enjoyed reading it. For me it was a little slow at times particularly during the flashbacks to the past. But it was overall a very good book!
I laughed, I cried and fully understood the trials and tribulations of the Three Fat Singletons. Jesse the divorcee, Dotty the virgin, and Mary the man-eater, as they take a break to Greece. I wouldn't recommend drinking while reading for you might end up spewing it out with choking laughter.
This book was a fun read. Three girls who struggle with self esteem go on a trip to Greece and one of them comes back feeling hopeful. Read this book, so that Mary, Dotty, and Jesse can share their adventure with you. You will laugh a little maybe even a lot.
I enjoyed this book ALOT as I have gained weight lately, stopped going to the gym daily and lost muscle tone and gained weight. This book showed me worst case scenario. It also highlights the possibilities of becoming overweight when in a bad relationship. I think this book motivates people on the verge fo becoming morbidly obese.
i sort of liked it. i thought the story was interesting and the way the author wrote it was grabbing and a fast read.
and that's all i have to say positively.
i thought the book was way too long and the plot was barely even there. there was too much information in this book that i really didn't care about and i didn't really find the book funny. if anything, i found it more sad.
i found the characters annoying and i was expecting more girl power and friendship. there was some parts of the book that had that, but it didn't move me. i didn't like mary because she was always helping men cheat on their significant others and her friends never did anything to stop it and i think that's what bugged me the most about this book. i only kept going because i wanted to finish it.
i thought the ending was too abrupt and really didn't leave anything to me. the only thing i felt was the feeling of relief of being done. and that's just sad.
I couldn't find this book hysterical, like the other reviewers. I'm so tired of books that the heroines are slim, perfect and beautiful. I think most people identify with characters that are flawed, because, let's face it, we all are. It just seemed one minute these three women were comfortable with their size, the next they were stressing or embarrassed about it, and (including the supporting characters) partied hard, got sick from it, slept around, cheated on their wives, and made fools of themselves.
The Three Fat Singletons is a laugh-out-loud kind of read. Readers will find themselves relating to the realistic issues of the three women. Being fat is a major issue we see in our world, today. Here, are three friends who are struggling with being over weight. Their heavy weight is the center of their problems. Then, there's their choices they make...that leads them further into a whole. I thought it was great to read about real women with real issues. Dotty, Jesse, and Mary are as real as characters can get in fiction. It was refreshing. Most books portray skinny or curvy women getting the hot sexy man and lucking out with everything. However, in the Three Fat Singletons, J.M Bartholomew captures reality with ease and flair. I enjoyed following the friends as they went opabout their situations from food to men. Their journeys are not pretty nor the best, but it was quite entertaining. Well-written, funny, and three dimensional characters...I would recommend this novel to readers everywhere. A great women's fictional piece, as well as a comedy.
