When I read the reviews about this book they seemed to range from not one of his best to a great read. I like Archer stories and so gave it a go while on holiday. Likes - I did enjoy the tale although it was the standard type with the good guy having almost superhero powers. There were a few surprises along the way which I also like. I got through it, as I said, while on holiday without too much worry. Dislikes - there seemed to be a grammar issue with it which I have not noticed in other Archer novels. I’m the last person to be preaching about grammar but I did find it distracting when, for example, I began to notice that some quotes started with the appropriate marks but many others didn’t. It didn’t detract from the story but did become annoying.

third one I have read - the first was British but court rooms are my favorite. the focus here was good with only enough characters to keep up with. I have read two others of the American venue and really like them but not the history of some others. I really don't know why some authors have to have 2-3 different stories and you keep hoping it will come together and make some sense. I guess they get paid by the page! my favorite = one story, fast flowing, with limited detail of surrounding and no more characters than it takes for the plot.
An amazingly written complex interaction between the good dedicated people in our government and those whose ambitious egos overcome their patriotism, including plotting the death of anyone who crossed their path.
Another excellent book by Jeffrey Arthur, I am DYSLEXIC Ph.D. So my wife reads to me constantly and has done so for the past 52 years when she reads to me I fall asleep, So we do most of our reading in our big chairs and stay awake extremely interesting stories
I've been an unconditional fan of Jeffrey Archer since I read his very first book! However, somehow i missed this one when it came out years ago. Just recently,( quite by accident) i happened to notice an article on the internet about this particular book, since it was back on the New York Times Best-Sellers List , after so many years. It didn't sound familiar, and I realized I didn't have it! I quick downloaded it on my kindle and was reading it within minutes. From the beginning to the very end, I could NOT put it down! Excellent as always! Jeffrey Archer is a master at putting little twists in the plot when you least expect it. This novel is no exception. I highly recommend this book whether you are an old fan- or just trying Jeffrey Archer for the first time. Either way, you won't be disappointed!
This book holds your interest all the way! My husband read it in record time, not wanting to wait to see how it all ended. I prefer to be in suspense a little longer. It really is "full of surprises!"
Archer weaves tales like no one else. His characters spring to life with all their complications in very few words but are immediately understood and familiar. The plot twists are always unique and rarely predictable at the same time believable. I always have trouble putting his books down. Do yourself a favor and pick this one up.
This, by far, is the best book I have read by Jeffrey Archer. He has become my most favorite author. I have yet to read a book of his that I didn't like. I hated for this book to end.
