This book is simply gorgeous! It's worth getting for the pictures alone. The detail is amazing, and the ball gowns are fabulous! But the story is wonderful, too. It's a little different from most versions of the Cinderella story. It has a gentle spirit to it, and is very satisfying. I've read dozens of versions of this story in my years home-schooling, and this is by far my favorite.
Every once in a while, a book comes along that is so beautifully illustrated; it literally becomes a feast for the eyes. This is one of those books. Intricate embellishments accompany the elegant illustrations as the author tells the familiar story with a twist involving a bluebird with a hurt wing. A gentle, quieting tale that is perfect for bedtimes.

Of all the many versions I have read, this is definitely one of my favorite versions for the incredible beauty of both the illustrations and text.
