Book was in good condition.
Misogynistic, but thoughtful-provoking.
The book condition was okay... What do you expect from a used book? But this user sent the book on time for my required reading for theater history.
curious about the complexity and eventual doom for a that grows among two people? then be sure to read this play. anyone who reads this would surely think twice about being in Jean's and Julie's predicament. what would you do if you were ever to find yourself in a similar situation?
I wasn't shocked that this new version of Miss Julie was good, but I was pleasantly surprised by the frankness of the language as opposed to older translations that err on the side of gentility. While the play retains its original period the language of the translation here is far from the ossified antiquarian language of some older translations from Strindberg's original.
With its lengthy introduction, solid translation, and valuable supplementary materials, this is the prime choice not only for students but also for theatregoers interested in background materials about the play they have seen or intend to see. Theatre professionals will also find much useful guidance here, as will critics. Highly recommended!
Well, it's psychotic, lovely and hypnotic for sure. Miss Julie is a product and victim of her repressive times.
